"I wrote the email above after receiving good news from my lab test. I have had high cholesterol (as high as 450) for many years and haven’t been able to control it, even with medication and as a result suffered a heart attack almost 4 years ago (I am now 56). After the recovery I exercised very little, lost major muscle mass and just became very weak. I would get out of breath just climbing a flight of stairs.
From our first meeting, John presented himself as very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his work. But it was only after a few months of training that I began to really understand how truly skilled he is at his profession. I have never worked with a personal trainer and had no idea what to expect. I wasn’t even sure if I could do any of it. John knew exactly where to start and how to progress. Each week, John brings a carefully thought out plan and smoothly transitions through each exercise emphasizing form and technique. During the training time we discuss my weekly progress both in exercise and nutrition.
The meal plans and nutrition have been an important part of this process. I’ve always enjoyed eating healthy foods but the food combinations, portions and balance knowledge was missing. Knowing each day what and how much to eat has really simplified my meal preparation and taken a lot of stress out of what to cook each day.
Sustaining motivation is where John has helped me the most. Beyond the great encouragement during a workout, he gives me tips on how to motivate myself when I am on my own. This has worked out extremely well since my training began with John in May of 2009. Within a few months I lost ten pounds and now I’m on a program to gain back ten pounds in muscle mass. I’m healthier and feel better than I’ve felt in years. My workout and nutrition program has been consistent for almost a year now. My progress has been incredible and now I can run up a flight of stairs without even thinking about it.
I think if there is one word to describe John it would be Exceptional both as a trainer and as a person. I feel very fortunate to have found John and truly appreciate his helping me back to my present state of health and well being."
